Something I noticed during the Alumni Concert

At least one of my offspring will understand the significance of these two photos.

Nice. I don't think I ever noticed that while I was there. Of course, the truth is we were only co-champs that year, but seeing as how we were the only claim to hardware MM had that year, I guess they were willing to overlook that. At the time, someone told me we were the first team to even get that far, but apparently, the feat had been done before. Did you ever win it? If so, what year?

We never did. We had a cohesive team with good chemistry, but we only had two break-away runners. Those were the days of Armando Valencia (4:07 mile), Tom Davidson, and the El Cajon Dynasty. Their true competition was the Monte Vista Mob, led by Don Olson and Danny Matheny. Both teams were swift, deep, and dominating during the years I ran.
